Cards for a wedding

Art for wedding cards for a client whose name I withhold here for reasons of confidentiality. I made art for two main wedding cards, inserts for other events. The couple wished that guests would donate for a charity organisation rather than get them gifts or flowers. The organisation provides midday meals to thousands of schoolchildren. A lovely idea... I wish more people thought this way!

The main wedding card started with the idea of two little school kids returning from school, the banana tree being the symbol of the occasion of the wedding. It grew into what you see here, the couple together, on their wedding day, holding an Akshaya Patra, all creatures of land, water and air finding sustenance and creating a balance of harmony.

The second card took a pencil sketch idea for an insert forward. We wanted to retain the look and feel of the other main wedding card. This is how the final colors look.

Several inserts for the various other celebrations...

And finally the insert that talks about the organisation and its work. I love this one the most...

I only included the girl child in this art, because apart from this issue of gender discrimination being my pet peeve, it is a fact that boys in rural India do have it easier than the girls... so this one is for all the little Meeras...
